Dedicated to the memory of TED 1907 - 1992

This site is a tribute to TED he is much loved and will always be remembered.

Born in Hebburn on August 10, 1907, he had 8 sisters and 1 brother. He was the second youngest and contracted Meningitis as a baby. TED attended Northern Counties School for the Deaf. He learnt the alphabet on his fingers spelt out the alphabet to communicate. (He can be seen with his sister Alice in the above photo)

Most of the deaf were taught trades using their hands so once TED left school at 16 he become an apprentice as a Tailor. TED met Miriam Chappelle at a deaf club. Miriam herself was also deafened as a child when she contracted Mastoids. To save her life they needed to operate which resulted in her losing her hearing.

TED and Miriam had four sons and two daughters. They got married on 26 August 1933. (Miriam there elder daughter) Composed this poem for their Golden wedding. (please see A Story section above)

This Forever Fund is to celebrate TED's life at the celebration of his daughters & son in laws golden wedding anniversary. Jeff Davies married Miriam Thompson on 03/09/1966. Golden wedding 03/09/2016
