TED THOMPSON

During his 80 + years of life he never looked for great possessions. He never owned a bicycle, motorbike, car, radio, or music player. In his pocket he kept his thimble, pocket watch and his football charm! A BLACK CAT. He was a SUNDERLAND supporter. He had a small box camera which was to take photos of his family. He had very little money and his pocket money went to his six children. Fridays he would come home with WINKLES. Saturdays he would send one of us for EXTRA LARGE ORANGES. Sundays was a trip to the ice cream parlour for ICE CREAM SANDWICHES.
Best of all was a SILVER SIXPENCE (6d) each for the six children.
He reconstructed old clothes into tailored trousers and coats for his children with his only other possessions a SEWING MACHINE and two large pressing IRONS.
HE gave us all love and only asked for love in return. With the support of his hard working wife Miriam (Chappell) he lived a full life in his own way.

Surely a great treasure.
